Directions

Vicarage Farm Cottages are in the middle of the Peak District National Park and there are many different routes to the cottages both direct and scenic.  The cottages lie midway between the M1 and M6.

If travelling from the M6 we would suggest leaving the M6 at junction 18 (Holmes Chapel) and following the A54 to Buxton via Congleton.  From Buxton, follow the signs towards Bakewell along the A6.  The A6 initially winds along a valley and then gains height.  Shortly after reaching the limestone plateau take the left turn (B6049) signed to Tideswell.

If travelling north up the M1 we would advise leaving at junction 29 and taking the dual carriageway (A617) to Chesterfield.  At Chesterfield follow the sign for Bakewell (and Chatsworth) along the A619.  Follow this road to Baslow.  At Baslow take the A623 and follow this main road through the villages of Calver and Stoney Middleton.  Continue along the A623 until the crossroads where the Anchor Inn is on the right and Tideswell is signed to the left. Turn left along the B6049 towards Tideswell.

From Tideswell

The B6049 passes through the centre of the village of Tideswell where all the local facilities are based including cash point, post office and doctors.  Opposite the Nat West Bank, turn onto the old Manchester Road and through the Market Place (now used for car parking.)  Pass the Market Place on the right and after 50 metres take the left turn (signed Wheston) up a hill.  Vicarage Farm Holiday cottages are one of the first properties in the hamlet of Wheston which you will reach after 1.5 miles.  The cottages are located on the right hand side of the lane opposite the new stable block and have exterior signage.

(Unfortunately some Sat Navs require a road name, but the lane through Wheston is not sufficiently used to merit a name.)
